Our Mother's Day Miracle
If you read my previous blog you know pretty much how I felt up to this point. It was hard trying to conceive because I always faced judgement from family, friends, and yes even strangers because I wasn't a Mom. My husband and I found out about a month after I posted that blog post on Mother's Day Weekend! It was quite a shock and I swear we took so many pregnancy tests that Walmart made a small fortune off us that morning. We were in total shock and denial. So here's our little back story and what we did to finally get pregnant! :)
My husband and I met when we were just kids and we had many northern stars before we actually dated each other. We got engaged May 2012 and married September 2012. We stopped using protection in June 2012 and started trying after we moved into our new home. It was not easy for either of us we knew it would take time but after a year passed we had lost hope. I had previously been on birth control so I figured this played a big role in it but after that one year passed I knew it could be something else. Summer of 2014, I started to take Clomid through my OBGYN. She said she didn't think it was the problem but since we requested to try it and it was considered safe she would write us a prescription for it. I took two months of it before I gave it up. I knew ovulating wasn't the problem and that Clomid couldn't help us. We tried not "trying" and then some months we "tried" with ovulation tests and timing it out. None of it worked for us! Finally, the good part what DID work for us after trying for a little over two years!
- Fertilaid for Men & Women. You can buy this at multiple places online but we chose to buy a one month supply through Amazon for both of us. It helps with a little bit of everything for both. We didn't follow the instructions! It says to take three pills a day but we both felt that was a little too much so I only took one (on days I remembered) and my husband took two (on days he remembered) a month passed and it didn't worked but we still had pills left so we took it one more month and it seemed to be part of our solution! $30.00 each.
- PreSeed Lubricant. This is a sort of expensive product unless you don't use it like the instructions tell you and I suggest to not follow them. They give you a tube to get the lubricant inside the female so that it makes it easy for sperm to swim to their destination. You don't not need to fill up this tube the whole way, a little goes a long way! I made sure to track ovulation and only use it around that time so we weren't wasting it. $20
- Ovulation Tests. You can buy any internet brand for this, cheap or expensive. Your choice honestly. Cheap ones from Ebay worked for us. I had a positive for about 48 hours before it was gone the month I got pregnant. $5
